Pamir Highway

Along the border to Afganistan through the Wakkan Corridor

Found new friends at 4655 altidude - Susi, Samuel and Oliver

Murgab with its container shopping street

Back on the M41 die "the normal street"

Arrived lat in the night at Chorugh- Pamir Lodge, Meeting Point for all Overlanders

Sleep in and then off to the Afghan border

at the left Tajikistan - at the right Afghanistan

Susi find always the best places for picknick....

....and Samuel the best Home Stays....

....and I find the funniest animals....

....and Oliver always finds the best ways to sink Porky Pig ;-)

No path is too steep if you want to see the largest Buddha temple in Tajikistan.....

....and that's what you get for all the hard work, a cairn and a great view.....

A water barrier in summer - a snow plough in winter

Who cooks does not have to do the dishes

The mysterious Tajik camel and the Afghan cowboys

Mirror, Mirror in the Sand.....

Susi und Samuel - Thanks to our Star Photographer Oliver

Pamirski Fire material- Maximum excrementum

Changing gearboxes on the Pamir - no problem

Marijn and Els with their two Suzuki DRZ 400

After 3 days into the wild back to Murgab, "Zivilisation" - App Monkeys

mysterious night.........and an even more mystical morning

It follows... the Bartang Valley

I owe this cool shot to Marvin

This is Marvin and there are a few more pictures to come....

The spawn of hell itself - according to Marvin, he only likes goats on a spit with potatoes

We are invited to dinner and have a great conversation in German with our engineer

Road broken - Car also - and now?

First we eat something - and than we will see what happens

My dear Marvin told me to go and take a look

there, there, don't be shy it will go wrong....all "no problemo"

Refuel and again on the road

Until suddenly the road is blocked by a landslide and then nothing works anymore....

The waiting begins, the waiting in paradise

Pamirski tobacco and lunch on the meadow, it couldn't be fresher, I'd love the little black one!

The bartang is done and so are we, now we just have to pay ...

...and the calculations are done as before...

our symphatic waiter

Yes, it is hot, and the tar is probably still fresh.... we continue on the northern route to Dushanbe - again along the Afagan border.

A small pass for in between and always stay on the "path", because there are landmines here again!

A visit at breakfast, we must have occupied the place of Madame Cow - or is that the milkman?

Elvis breakfast - flatbread, peanut butter, cucumber and banana - any questions?

They actually put up a sign that there are curves here and it's painted by themselves.

We are approaching civilisation

The "Green House Hostel" - Meeting Point for Overlander in Dushanbe

Spare parts and shoes on offer, we are looking for a cover for the alternator for a DRZ 400

Lunch in the canteen - dinner in the beer garden with home-brewed wheat....na then cheers

.... and a bit of "unculture" is a must. The Tajik copy of a well-known fast food chain, only better because everything is homemade and tastes great.

After a small farewell ceremony from my "Moscow bikers", we're already on our way....

No desire for the dead tunnel - so off road again and over the pass

Autonomous means of transport, can also find its way home on its own - and naturally a Barana again.

Motorcyclists are always a perfect opportunity to try out one's English.

A different kind of half-timbered house - home-made bricks

On the way to the Iskander Kul lake

Marvin and I found a cosy spot by the lake - picnic spot with free overnight stay

On to the next highlight - the 7 Lakes, just a few valleys away

Since we look quite poor, we were invited for lunch - thank you all very much.

Bye Bye Tajikistan - it was wonderful - see you soon!
